Celebrating Academic Excellence and Achievement
The Office of University Events and Programs (UEP) plans events that celebrate the achievements of UNH students. From Commencement, celebrating new graduates; to Honors Convocation, lauding academic excellence; to smaller programs highlighting the talents and work of UNH students, UEP enables the UNH community to join in recognizing student achievement.
UNH Commencement in May is the largest annual event in New Hampshire. An average of 18,000 people, including students, families, faculty, and friends, gather to celebrate graduation.
The annual Honors Convocation ceremony celebrates the outstanding academic achievements of UNH's most accomplished seniors at the culmination of their undergraduate experience.
Academic Convocation
UEP collaborates with the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President to coordinate the annual Academic Convocation. The Academic Convocation provides a forum to launch the Discovery Program University Dialogue, a year-long series of activities on a specific topic. Discovery authors representing a wide range of expertise serve as the panelists for the convocation by presenting and debating different perspectives.
Faculty Excellence Dinner
Each year, UNH selects a small number of its outstanding faculty for special recognition of their achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service. Awards for Excellence in Teaching are given in each college and school, and University-wide awards recognize public service, research, teaching, and engagement. UEP collaborates with the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President to create an evening for the distinguished faculty excellence award recipients and their families to be honored by their peers for "excellence."
