Terry Forbes

Terry Forbes, research professor emeritus in the physics department and the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space, recently received the George Ellery Hale Prize from the American Astronomical Association. Forbes, a solar physicist, was honored for “his significant contributions to the theory of magnetic reconnection, for his development of important new models of the physics of solar flares and coronal mass ejections, and for his achievements mentoring students and junior scientists in the solar physics community.”
