Aside from the occasional, grueling hours spent working for UPS – in sub-zero conditions, no less – my winter break was incredibly lackadaisical. That isn’t to say I didn’t try to find more work, but, alas, it mainly consisted of reading, eating, and NFL Sunday gatherings at the pub. Don’t get me wrong, those hours upon hours spent craning my neck upwards to watch the football game at McGillicuddy’s were fun, and even tiring at times, but I had to put myself on an incredibly tight financial leash… since, well, I wasn’t working full-time.
Not enough money, too much free time, and too many boredom-remedies to spend money on; that is a brief summation of my break, and it’s something that will put me right alongside the majority of college students. I had a great time revisiting friends, seeing family, eating Mom’s home cooked meals, and sleeping in my own bed, but I definitely need to make some changes in the new year. And although I don’t buy into the superstitious resolution mumbo jumbo, (y’know, “time is an illusion,” all that philosophical stuff) I still feel like it’s a good excuse to decide to START SAVING MY MONEY.
Until next Football season, that is. Buffalo wings don’t come cheap ‘round these parts.
