As the end of the year comes closer, there are tons of fun events happening all around campus – everything from Greek Life formals to CAB’s May Day Carnival. In the midst of all the exiting events, the Hall Councils of Williamson and Christensen decided to have their own – a Williamson/Christensen BBQ Extravaganza!
All of the residence halls have great relationships with UNH Dining. Each year, UNH Dining is kind enough to offer each residence hall a free ice cream social, and a free BBQ. Last semester Williamson and Christensen utilized those ice cream socials, and they were a huge hit! This semester we decided to have our BBQs together this past Friday afternoon.
Both hall councils worked for several weeks to plan the event. Christensen Hall signed out the popcorn and cotton candy machines from Residential Life, as well as the tie dye kit. One of the RAs had his own sound equipment, so he was able to blast music throughout the lawn to attract more students. Williamson invited the Campus Activities Board to promote their event May Day Carnival, which was the following day. CAB brought fun giveaways and ladder ball for students to play. Both halls were selling t-shirts that their hall councils designed! RAs and Hall Council members were everywhere helping out.
The event turned out to be a wonderful success. There was so much food (hamburgers, hot dogs, veggies burgers, soda, brownies, salad, pasta salad, chips…), music, lawn games, treats, activities, and beautiful weather that tons of students came from both halls to participate. Even after they had eaten their fill, many students stayed around to enjoy the weather, play catch or Can Jam, and enjoy the music It was an amazing way to end the year, and a great experience for the hall councils, CAB, and UNH Dining to collaborate.
