My junior year at UNH, when I was a returning RA in Alexander Hall, I had the opportunity to attend the annual RLAGS conference. RLAGS stands for Residential Life Association of the Granite State. The organization is made up of residence life professionals from across the state, and promotes communication, a sharing of ideas, and connections between residence life departments at different New Hampshire colleges and universities.
The year I attended, the conference was held at Keene State, and myself and more than a dozen other RAs and hall directors traveled there together one Saturday in November. The RAs and hall directors could attend different workshops throughout the course of the day. I attended workshops about large scale social programming, creating effective advertising, time management, and the psychology of connecting with residents. My fellow RA Halie and I were also presenters at at workshop called “Programming with Pinterest”, where we discussed how to use different Pinterest crafts as socials in residence halls.
This year, I’m excited that the RLAGS conference is being hosted right here at UNH on Saturday, October 26th. Those in attendance will be able to attend different workshops throughout the day, presented by RAs and Hall Directors from across the state. The workshops will fall under one of three themes: personal development, program development, and higher education. There will also be a poster session that everyone can attend, showcasing new programs and ideas.
Our guests will also be able to eat at HoCo, and win swag from all the different schools in attendance.
If you’re an RA or Hall Director, be sure to come check out the RLAGS conference next Saturday!
