This morning, rather than wait in the long (but trust me – it’s usually worth the wait) breakfast bar line at Philly, my boyfriend Taylor and I decided to go to Young’s Restaurant in downtown Durham for breakfast. When I used to live in Alexander Hall, we would go there all the time because we were so close. Now that I live in Williamson Hall, and he lives in the Woodsides campus apartments, going to Young’s is a treat for us.
The restaurant (which just recently began serving dinner Tuesday through Saturday – a great option for a date night or when your family comes to visit), prides itself on its sustainability practices, locally grown products, and commitment to being as green as possible. Many times, the produce used in the menu items come from the owners’ own garden.
When Taylor and I arrived around 10:30 a.m., it was pretty busy but we were seated quickly, getting one of the good seats by the windows facing Main Street in the sun. We started perusing the menu and specials. I had my eyes set on the cinnamon apple french toast special. Young’s has the best cinnamon swirl french toast, and the special included fresh roasted apples from Demeritt Hill Farm, cinnamon, and strudel. To top it all off, they had specially made pumpkin spice coffee. It. Was. So. Good. Taylor enjoyed his french toast and bacon as well…
When you’re looking for a place downtown to get a delicious breakfast or lunch, or to take your family, friends, boyfriend, or girlfriend out to dinner, Young’s is truly a delicious option. Their commitment to sustainability and locally grown products is just the icing on the cake!
