Alumni Tale: Richard Roy ’16

What did you study at UNH?

Analytics and Quantitative Finance, Paul College of Business and Economics

What are some of your strongest memories of UNH?

One of my strongest memories at UNH was being a member of the Atkins Investment Group through Paul College. This group provided me with a tremendous amount of guidance, both life and career. I truly believe that without the camaraderie and support from the Atkins Investment Group I would not be where I am today.

How do you feel your time at UNH has had an impact on where you are today?

My time at UNH was instrumental in helping me develop a professional platform in which to start my career.

I have always believed that College was not about retaining for the next 30 years every formula or equation that would be on a test but rather an attestation to one’s ability to learn and grasp new concepts quickly. UNH helped me do exactly that, and as a result, allowed me to find success in my first few years post-graduation.

Tell us about your career path to date… what have been some career milestones in your life?

After graduating from UNH in 2016, I was lucky enough to land a position in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs where I advised the firm’s technology, media, and telecommunications clients. After roughly 2.5 years in the group, I decided to make a pivot and began working at a Hedge Fund in New York City where I focused on investments in small-mid cap technology companies.

In May of 2019, I joined NOCA full time, an entrepreneurial CPG venture that two friends and I co-founded.
