Alumni Tale: Pamela Williams ’00

What did you study at UNH?

Communication Sciences and Disorders

What were you doing 1 year out of college?

After obtaining my master’s degree in 2006, I began pursuing the gold standard (the certificate of clinical competence) in my field, speech-language pathology, by working a clinical fellowship year in a small, rural New Hampshire elementary school.

What were you doing 5 years out of college?

Working for the same company contracted to that school, but as a fully-certified speech-language pathologist!

What are you doing now?

I am the district speech-language pathologist with two full-time assistants working with me to service all the children with speech-language needs for another small, rural New Hampshire town.

How do you feel your time at UNH has had an impact on where you are today?

I would not have been able to enter this field without the program I went through at UNH. I also received the great gift of enduring relationships with my some of my peers and faculty that were, and still are, an important part of my personal and academic growth. I also learned how to drive buses at UNH and made that my job while I was going to school and for some years afterward!
