My First UNH Homecoming

My First UNH Homecoming

UNH Homecoming weekend began the morning of Friday, October 12, 2012 all over the Durham campus.  There were raffle tickets hidden throughout the campus for everyone to search for that could be entered into drawings for cool prizes. A parade beginning on Quad Way with banners from various student committees and clubs marched everyone over to Boulder Field, where free food and gifts such as t-shirts, Frisbees, and towels were offered to fellow UNH students, faculty, alumni, and their families. I especially liked the float for the UNH French Club because I was President of the French Club at my high school during senior year.

It was a great homecoming weekend for UNH sports as well. Surrounded by many cheering fans, the hockey team won their games against St. Cloud both on Friday and Saturday and we beat Richmond in football! My parents came to visit and they enjoyed the Saturday night hockey game, which was another bonus for me because my dad is a UNH alum. My mom said a huge part of the entertainment for her was watching the student section during the traditional UNH cheers and chants. As a freshman at the university, I’d say my first UNH homecoming weekend was an overall success!
