First Year Living: Where should you live?

First Year Living: Where should you live?Recently, I’ve noticed an increase of posts in the Class of 2018 page from prospective (or committed) students. As D-day (May 1st) approaches, I expect to see even more posts from students posting their interests looking for roommates to live with this fall. Even though I’ve only lived in one hall in my two years here at UNH, I’ve decided to put together a guide (and a quiz) for first year living for the upcoming freshmen class.

While choosing a dorm for first year living can seem overwhelming, make sure you take all factors into account while making a selection. For example, think about where you would ideally like to live (i.e. near Main Street, close to the gym, etc.), what size hall you would like, what features it should have, etc. Take a look at this “At-A-Glance Hall Guide” from UNH Housing to see which features are in which dorms.

Speaking of the UNH Housing page, I suggest you take a look. You can see floorplans for the buildings you are interested in, get information and dimensions of the furniture in each building, and read a list of items not allowed in dorms. The UNH Housing website is truly your one-stop shop for all things related to first year living!First Year Living: Where should you live?

If you would rather not be bombarded with information, I’ve put together a little quiz to help you figure out what dorm would be best for you to live in. You can take the quiz by clicking here. Hopefully after seeing your quiz result and doing a little research on the UNH Housing page, you will have a better idea of where you would like to live! Happy dorm shopping!
