Alumni Tale: Bridget Shanks ’15

What did you study at UNH?

Communications, Kinesiology: Sport Studies

What were you doing 1 year out of college?

One year out of college I was working at Villanova University in their Athletic Ticket Office. I managed ticket operations for their Men’s Lacrosse program and assisted in operations for Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Football.

What were you doing 5 years out of college?

I’ve still got a couple of years to go, but I’m hoping that I will have made my way back to New England!

What are you doing now?

I am currently working on my Master’s in Sport and Recreation Leadership at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. In addition to working on my degree, I am the graduate assistant for the Duke Club, the fundraising arm of JMU Athletics.

How do you feel your time at UNH has had an impact on where you are today?

Without the opportunities I had to work in the Athletic Department as an undergrad I would have never been able to find my passion for working in collegiate athletics. I was able to work in various capacities for UNH Athletics during my time in Durham.

Why do you believe in UNH?

I believe in UNH, because UNH always believed in me. I believe in UNH because without UNH, the experiences, and the opportunities that I had during my time in Durham, I would have never been
able to believe in myself.
