PROVOST AND VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

The University of New Hampshire is extending its acceptance of nominations and applications for Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs until April 1st.

Feedback on the initial announcement of the search indicates that many were unaware of the opportunity to nominate candidates.  In addition, one of the two open forums held to solicit input was cancelled due to weather.  To allow for more participation by the UNH community, the search committee has extended the deadline for nominations and applications until April 1st.

Reporting directly to the President, the successful candidate will serve as chief academic officer of the University and senior member of the President’s cabinet.

The next provost will have a demonstrated record of research and scholarship, a strategic vision for the future of higher education, a well-established record of academic leadership as documented by innovative institutional change, and a commitment to approaches that holistically integrate research, instruction, engagement, and advancement within an overall academic mission. He or she must engage in collegial and constructive problem-solving that integrates the university in novel, forward-thinking ways. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are, therefore, essential. An earned doctorate and academic credentials appropriate for a full professor appointment at a research university are requirements.

Members of the UNH community or interested parties are encouraged to submit their nominations and applications by April 1, 2013 to assure consideration. A nomination or a statement of interest and curriculum vitae should be sent by email to provost.search@unh.edu.  Comments and suggestions can also be sent to provost.search@unh.edu; Manchester community members can send comments to Kelly Kilcrease, a member of the search committee, at kelly.kilcrease@unh.edu
