Lobster backpack
I came to UNH because of the reputation of its marine biology program and also because I heard that sophomores and juniors could begin leading their own research projects.
All it took was one course with zoology professor Win Watson to know that I wanted in on his lobster research.
I won an undergraduate research grant to develop a lobster “backpack” that measures heart rate changes. In the process, I became certified in diving and worked with staff in the UNH instrumentation center to develop a circuit for the backpack.
