The Programs
UROP
Through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), you can receive funds to pursue a research project here on campus, across town, or across the nation. Whether through taking a research-intensive course, working in one of the University's many centers or institutes, or teaming up with a favorite professor to pursue a mutual academic interest, the opportunities to become involved in research abound for students of all majors. IROP
Sometimes the theme of your research takes you to an international city or a remote corner of the world. The center's International Research Opportunities Program, known here on campus as IROP (eye ropp), funds nine weeks of research in a foreign country during the summer of your junior year. You'll conduct research under the guidance of a foreign mentor and experience the challenges of designing and executing a research project while living in a culture different from your own. INCO 590
INCO 590 is a variable credit course (1-4 cr.) designed as an entry-level experience, particularly suitable to lower-division students or those with little or no previous exposure to research. However, ALL matriculating UNH undergraduates in good academic standing are eligible to enroll. INCO 590 allows undergraduates to explore topics of interest by assisting faculty mentors with teaching and research activities. Learn more about INCO 590 >>
Research Experience and Apprenticeship Program (REAP)
REAP is a special program for highly motivated, first-year students. Students selected for the program will spend the summer after their first year exploring their academic interests and developing their ability to pursue projects under the supervision of a UNH faculty member. REAP will prepare students for advanced research, scholarly, or creative work, including opportunities sponsored by UROP and IROP, the Honors Program senior thesis, and other capstone experiences. Study Abroad Research Grants
These awards are given to students who will be studying abroad to enable them to take advantage of the special resources available at a foreign site (archives and libraries; museums, art galleries and exhibits; performances; government agencies; non-profit organizations; businesses; experts, scholars or other individuals to be interviewed; laboratory or field research). Honors Thesis Grants
This program offers a rolling application process for students who, in the course of doing their thesis, find that they have unanticipated expenses or become aware of an opportunity that will enhance their thesis results (e.g., travel to a research site; expanded data collection). Presentation Grants
After you have completed a research project, you have many options for presenting your results. The Hamel Center can help you pay for this important and final step in the research process. Learn more about Presentation Grants >>
