Before you begin the application process, please make sure you've reviewed the preparation and planning tips.
Make sure you've answered the following questions before you prepare your application.
- Have you identified your faculty mentor? Be sure he or she is eligible to be a mentor and is committed to serving that capacity before you get involved in writing your proposal. All tenure-track, research, clinical, and extension faculty are eligible to mentor an undergraduate research project without prior approval. Other non-tenure-track faculty may be eligible with prior approval. Faculty mentor eligibility guidelines
- For which type of grant will you apply? Check eligibility requirements and deadlines. Review grant options on the "Who is eligible?" page to determine which option is best for you. Your faculty mentor or the Hamel Center staff can help.
