internship checklist
□ Research different internship opportunities and keep in mind what kind of experience you are looking for and know why you want to complete an internship.
□ There is no ‘best’ internship. There are only better or worse internships depending on your needs, values, and goals.
□ Be able to clearly articulate specific learning goals for your internship experience to the employer, i.e., “I want to learn how to use a software platform to develop tracking systems for client contacts and follow-up.”
□ The more relevant you can make your learning goals to what you are studying in your classes; the more likely you can receive academic credit for your internship experience.
□ As an intern, you are entering into a commitment with an employer. Honor this commitment by being prepared, responsible, conscientious, and motivated. By doing this you maximize what you can get out of the experience while developing a positive relationship that can benefit you as well as other University students in the future.
□ You should keep a portfolio of everything you accomplish or produce during your internship, so you can use this information later to support your resume claims.
