Brief Company Overview: |
The Center for Wildlife is located in Cape Neddick, Maine, near the summit
of Mt. Agamenticus, approximately 6 miles from the York exit of I-95.
Our mission over the past 20 years has been to rescue, rehabilitate
and release birds, small mammals and reptiles back into the wild.
Each year, we take in upwards of 1500 sick, injured and orphaned
wild animals. The spring and summer months are our busiest as we
take in scores of baby birds and mammals of a variety of species.
The cases we treat are often the result of human encroachment on
wildlife habitat: animals that are hit by cars, caught by cats or
dogs, or whose nesting sites have been disturbed by construction.
In addition to the direct animal care work we do, we answer hundreds
of inquiries from the public and we offer educational programs to
local schools and community groups to help build awareness of the
species we treat and the habitats they depend upon for survival.
