Research Assistant:

1. Perform lab and office duties associated with a biorepository for the Nurses' Health Study II. Primarily responsible for: Removal of blood from liquid nitrogen freezers, labeling of tubes and shipping boxes, aliquotting of samples to be sent to collaborating laboratories; Data entry, data cleaning and updating of computer database daily; Interacting with data manager, study coordinator and Project Manager. 2. Assist in monitoring liquid nitrogen freezers, which includes measuring liquid Nitrogen levels, moving and replacing heavy liquid nitrogen tanks. Respond promptly and efficiently to any freezer alarm situation and contacts the Study Coordinator/Project Manager when necessary 3. Update Study Coordinator daily on progress of projects, update Project Manager at weekly lab meetings. 4. Occasionally process and store incoming blood samples; which includes opening and checking incoming packages for completeness, logging packages into computer data files and logbooks, centrifuging and aliquotting samples, generating labels and storing samples in liquid nitrogen freezers.
