Store Management Development Program Components Included:
Phase 1 Learning Modules: SucceSSS and Register Training; Signing; Planograms; Pricing; Sale Up and Down; RF Units; Ordering Regular Merchandise (Fundamentals of AIM and FSI); Backroom Organization; Item Management (New Items, Discontinued Merchandise, Excess Stock); Receiving and Checking in Deliveries; Opening and Closing the Store, Alarm Systems; Cashier Verifications; Random Verifications; Imprest Fund, Deposit Turn Ins; RFC’s; Internal and External Loss Prevention; EAS; Payroll; HIPPA, OIG Compliance; Accident Reports/Contamination; Pharmacy Training (Basics of AIM Rx); and Photo Lab Operations
Outside of Store Activities and Opportunities for Learning:
• Monthly Meeting and Travel Days with District Managers: Receive personal attention and answers to questions; Participate in store walk throughs, Visit a competitor’s store, and Learn about store operations from a high level perspective!
• Bi-Weekly Online Communication with Manager, College Relations and Student Programs and other students in the program; Share experiences with other students, Get reminders for assignment due dates; Ask questions about interacting with your mentor!
• Travel Day with Human Resource Business Partners; Receive personal attention and answers to questions; Hear first hand how CVS develops and promotes its employees; and Learn about employee relations in the field!
• Region and District Meetings: Each student has the opportunity to attend 1-2 actual region meetings during the program; Get to know other District Managers in the region, meet the Region Manager, Be introduced to other key CVS constituents including Pharmacy Supervisors, Loss Prevention, and outside vendors!
• 1-2 Workshop Days focused on your management development; Guest presenters in each region will present on various aspects of business in which they have expertise. Sample topics include driving in business in a competitive market and developing creative customer service plans.
• Travel Day to Distribution Center and corporate CVS office: Get a behind the scenes look at how products make it to our stores and take a tour of our corporate office.
• Flex Travel time to participate in district or region activities District Manager or Human Resources Business Partner recommends
• Personal Comprehensive Project and Presentation: Develop a project topic that is of interest to you with your Store Manager, Training Store Manager, and/or District Manager that you will work on throughout the program in addition to your regular responsibilities; participate in a regroup meeting with Manager, College Relations and Student Programs and other students to discuss project progression; practice important presentation skill development as you present your project during the last week to Store Managers, District Managers, other students in program, and various other CVS constituents at final meeting.

Assistant Store Manager
What Do You Learn in the Management Program at CVS?
Management: Lead, supervise, assign and direct all store activities.
* Customer Service: Assist customers, handle customer relation s issues and promote a positive shopping experience.
* Merchandising/Presentation: Price and stock merchandise, reset
departments, organize and execute the display and signing of regular, promotional and seasonal merchandise.
* Shrinkage (Loss Prevention): Administer, and monitor Loss Prevention programs and systems, complete all cash control procedures, analyze reports, identify and react to shoplifters, ensure price accuracy and protect store assets.
* Store Operations: Manage office administration, order and receive
merchandise, oversee and execute daily reports, develop sales/hours forecasts, verify billing of merchandise, manage merchandise returns and inter-store transfers, banking, schedule activities, ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and federal and state laws, supervise employees/manage shifts, open/close store, establish priorities, and identify and react to in-store repairs.
* Human Resources: Complete Phase I & II development program, execute and maintain documentation, recruit, select, hire, train, develop, evaluate and suspend hourly non-exempt employees, conduct performance appraisals, recommend wage and promotion of employees, ensure on-the-job safety, coach and counsel employees, develop staffing strategies, and maintain a work place free from discrimination and harassment.
* Financial Reporting/Administration: Analyze operating
reports/documents, make recommendations on and implement store performance improvement plans, prepare store for physical inventory, complete and analyze Business Reviews and develop and execute plans to correct improvement areas.
