Want to be a Pet Groomer?

You’ve always loved animals and are creative........

Are a high school or college graduate and thought you might like a career change...........

Not sure if you want to shell out lots of money at once for a new career........

Can’t get a groomer/kennel to hire you because you don’t have the knowledge........

Might want your own animal-related business some day....

Would like to see what it’s really like.......

Thompson School at UNH has the program for you! You can take one class, or you can enroll in the program and obtain a diploma and college credits.

The Thompson School Pet Grooming Diploma Program is a subset of classes from the Applied Animal Science Small Animal Care Program. They are courses that contain material that the instructors feel is minimally necessary for a successful career in pet grooming or in the boarding/dog daycare industry. It should be noted that they are college classes and the Diploma student will have the same academic requirements for these classes as the enrolled UNH students.  The classes follow the UNH semester calendar and most are weekday, daytime classes. Because most who take the classes are interested in the grooming aspect, it is possible to take AAS 222 Grooming I which provides supervised grooming instruction and experience through the Thompson School Grooming Shop before actually enrolling in the program.  Most will use this class as an indicator of whether this is the career choice for them.

A visit to the Thompson School before enrolling is highly recommended and may be arranged by calling 603-862-1025 and make sure to mention the Pet Grooming Diploma Program.
