All UNH Visitors are subject to campus parking rules and regulations.
Parking for Visitors is available at the Visitor Information Center. Map. The Visitor Lot is the metered lot adjacent to the Visitor Center. The visitor lot is restricted to individuals who are neither students nor faculty/staff. Daytime parking requires a paid meter or permit! Please take careful note of the following options and restrictions:
Visitor Center Meters
The parking meters at the Visitor Center are available to purchase parking time. A change machine is available inside the Visitor Center when the building is open. These meters are enforced from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The rate is $1/hour. Special: $10 buys you 12 hours (see "overnight parking", below).
Other Campus Meters
Visitors are also welcome to use any available (vacant and unreserved) parking meters around campus. These meters are enforced from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Note, these other meters start earlier than the Visitor Center meters). The rate is $1/hour (no 12 hour special).
Short Term Lot C
Lot C (off Mill Road) is available for short-term parking, at an hourly rate of $1, up to three hours maximum. Buy a permit from the lot attendant. The permit requirement in this lot is enforced from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Day Passes
Day passes are available to anyone that would be here for multiple days. Day passes are sold M-F 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., so you may have to have your host arrange a permit for you in advance if you arrive after 4pm, or use the meters. Day permit sales require the license plate number, the arrival and departure dates, and the full daily rate of $8.00.
Overnight Parking
Visitors should park at the Visitor Center. To pay for the following weekday, the visitor must return to the meter there by 8:00 a.m. to buy time for the day. (Hint: If 8:00 a.m. is "too early", a visitor may start the meter the previous evening so that it's still running into the morning...e.g. put in $10 at midnight the previous night, which buys you 12 hours, and you don't have to return until noon, but you don't get the night for free, as you would by coming back at 8:00 a.m.). Alternatively, a day pass can be purchased at the full daily rate ($8).
Permit Requirement
Limited free parking is available in designated faculty/staff and commuter lots from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following weekday morning. HOWEVER: from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., fac/staff and commuter lots have a strictly enforced permit requirement. Visitors may not park there during the permit requirement hours.
Beware of the Winter Parking Ban!
From November 1 to April 1, most fac/staff and commuter lots close at midnight, because of the Winter Parking Ban (WPB). During the WPB, after-midnight parking for visitors is restricted to the Visitor Lot at the Visitor Center only.
Very Important
Visitors are NOT allowed to park at designated Resident Lots (Gables, Woodside, E/E1, West Edge, Mast Road lots). These lots are sold to capacity, have a strict 24/7 permit policy, and can not accommodate visitors. Violators risk ticketing and towing, so please beware! You may NOT use these lots, even for short-term visits, loading/unloading, etc.
Load Zones
Short-term loading zones are available for quick loading/unloading use. Please do not linger in these areas longer than you need to...they are in very high demand!
No Parking Areas
Obviously, parking is not permitted in any area that is not specifically designated as a parking space. You can not park in undesignated areas, in hash-mark areas, lanes, fire or safety zones, etc., or anywhere off the paved surface!
