"Permit School"
Eligibility...

I wish to buy a GA (graduate assistant) permit ($50).

Hint:
The 14-15 GA permit is not valid for use during the summer of 2014.  If you have no permit, and only need a permit for the summer, you should obtain a 2014 Summer Permit, $35, available at the parking office only.  The 14-15 GA permits do not become valid for use until 08/11/14 (through 8/31/14).

Hint #2:  Please do not confuse the "GA" permit with a "Gables" permit.  You are now applying for a GA permit--"Graduate Assistant".  If you are looking to apply for a "Gables" permit, please start over.

"Permit School"
Permit Placement...

I understand that the parking permit must be affixed to the lower driver’s side front windshield of my car, so that it can be seen from the outside, AND  I understand that the permit can not be affixed elsewhere on the vehicle.

"Permit School"
Permit Placement...

I understand that “affixing” means peeling off the clear cover from the front, and using the decal's front adhesive to stick the permit to the window, and that I may not tape or simply display the permit without properly affixing it to the window.

Hint:  Remove your old permit(s)!

"Permit School"
Eligibility changes...

I understand that if, after buying my permit,  I should subsequently move to campus housing, a fraternity or sorority house, or to an ineligible address within 1-mile of campus, end my assistantship, or cease to be an enrolled student, that I am no longer eligible to hold a GA permit, and must return the permit with no refund (except as allowed in the refund policies) AND that continuing to use my permit is a violation of the parking regulations, carrying a $400 fine.

Hint: Students whose eligibility to hold a GA permit end before the permit's expiration date, but who still remain enrolled may exchange for a Commuter permit at no charge, pending eligibility.

"Permit School"
Non-transferability...

I understand that this permit may be used only by me, the permit owner, and the permit and its privileges are not transferable to another person or owner.

"Permit School"
Non-transferability...

I understand that I may not sell, loan, or give this permit to another person in a private transaction, and that permits can be issued and assigned by the Parking Office only.

"Permit School"
Use...

I understand that GA parking is the same as Commuter parking.  I may use this permit ONLY in designated parking spaces in Commuter lots, and that these permits are NOT valid in non-commuter spots, in any no-parking areas, at any parking meter, or in any area not specifically designated as a parking space (ex. hash marks, traffic lanes, off the paved surface, etc.).

Note:  GAs and GA's vehicles are expected to “go home” at night.  Occasional overnight parking of a GA vehicle is acceptable, but prolonged or excessive overnighting by a commuter is not allowed.

"Permit School"
Use...

I understand that GA parking is available to permit holders in the following lots:

Hint:  Visit/print the campus map to find out where these lots are.

"Permit School"
Use...

I understand that when one lot is full, as will often happen at certain times of day, that I must find a legal space in another parking lot for which I am eligible.

"Permit School"
Use...

I understand that from time to time, it’s possible that a special event may change parking availability, and that I should be alert for signs and announcements.

Hint I: Subscribe to "Parking.News", a free weekly e-mail service with timely announcements about lot closures, announcements, and other relevant parking reminders!  Visit http://www.unh.edu/transportation/parking/news.htm for easy subscription details.

Hint II:  For bulletin service, find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter

"Permit School"
Use...

I understand that the Campus Connector services all commuter lots, and that it is often much faster and less aggravating to park at the West Edge and ride the West Edge Express connector shuttle.

Hint:  Visit the "transit & shuttle" portion of the Transportation web page:  http://www.unh.edu/transportation/wildcat

"Permit School"
Ineligible use...

I understand that Faculty/Staff parking lots are unavailable to me between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout the entire calendar year.

"Permit School"
Ineligible use...

I understand that Campus Resident lots are unavailable to me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

"Permit School"
Ineligible use...

I understand that specially-reserved parking spaces such as Service Spaces, Hall Director Spaces, Handicap Spaces, Departmental Spaces, motorcycle spaces, and Dean’s Spaces, etc. are unavailable to me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

"Permit School"
Ineligible use...

I understand that parking meters are available to me, but they must be paid for time used between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and my permit is not valid at meters.   I am entitled to pay for the maximum time available on a meter, but "feeding" for extended use is prohibited.

Note:  Commuters may also pay the hourly rate to park in Lot C, up to 4 hours.  The Main Street Visitor Lot (visitor section of Lot H) is NOT available to students, faculty or staff.

"Permit School"
Other Use Considerations...

I understand if I need to bring an alternate vehicle to campus temporarily, that I must obtain a "temp" permit from the parking office (at no charge).  I must display a permit while parking on campus.

"Permit School"
Other Use Considerations...

I understand that if I need a replacement permit, I must return the original permit to the parking office to get a free replacement, BUT that if I am unable to return the original permit that there is a $20 replacement fee.

"Permit School"
Winter Parking Ban...

I understand that the following notes about the Winter Parking Ban:  The WPB closes most lots, spaces & meters from midnight to 6:00 a.m. every night from December 1 through March 31, regardless of weather conditions.  Exempt parking for GAs is available in Section 4 of A-lot (extreme rear, nearest the Gables).  “Weather conditional” parking is available in some lots…be sure to check the status signs upon entering, or call 2-1001.

Hint: Be sure to visit http://www.unh.edu/transportation/parking/wpb.htm.

"Permit School"
Expiration/Invalidation...

I understand that my parking permit expires on August 31, 2015, or when any element of my eligibility to hold a GA permit changes, whichever occurs first.

"Permit School"
Enforcement considerations...

I understand that the parking regulations are very strictly enforced on the UNH campus, and that violation of these regulations carry high fines and other enforcement/collection measures such as business office holds or towing.  I can get towed for excessive unpaid balances, even if I am legally parked at the time!.  I understand that illegal parking for any length of time risks these high fines and other enforcement measures!

Hint: Take a look at Article X of the regulations to see the fine structure!

"Permit School"
Enforcement considerations...

I understand that there is no tolerance for parking in fire lanes, or other tow zones, and that permit requirements are strictly enforced, and so parking must be done in legal spaces only,  no matter how long or short the duration.

"Permit School"
Enforcement considerations...

I understand that I may be held responsible for citations incurred by myself, my family members*, vehicles registered to my family members, my visitors even if they are operating a different car, or anybody using the car I am registering.

*PLEASE Note:  A ticket written on any vehicle showing a registration in the same household as a registered student shall result in the same enforcement, billing, holds, and collection procedures as if the ticket was issued to the student him/herself, whether or not this vehicle was operated by the student or whether the ticket is known to the student.  See the "same household" clause of UNH Parking Regulations Article II, Section 11.

"Permit School"
Enforcement considerations...

I understand that receiving excessive fines may cause my parking privileges to be revoked—even if I pay off the tickets I receive.

"Permit School"
Enforcement considerations...

I understand I must correctly advise my visitors on the parking regulations, including but not limited to visitor parking, permit regulations, Winter Parking Ban, etc.

Hint:  There are specific rules, hints, and strategies for accommodating visitors posted at http:www.unh.edu/transportation/visitor.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that this on-line application I am about to begin will require me to provide accurate name, address, vehicle, and payment information, and that I must fill in this information with care so as not to delay my application.

Hint:  You may chose to read the TROUBLESHOOTING section now.  If you should encounter a problem later, you may already know the answer, and won't have to return to it later.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that the address will be looking for a delivery address where you wish your new permit sent.  Only provide an address to a location where can receive mail now (please don't use an address you won't be living at until later, where mail would get lost).

You may also add an "additional address" to your account when creating your profile.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that I must provide a valid license plate number, and must NOT leave that part blank, or give “temp” plate information, or fill in the spaces with Xs or zeros, etc., and that if I don’t have a vehicle to register yet, I may not proceed with this application.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that I must provide a valid student ID number and that if I need to get an ID number assigned to me, to contact the UNH ID office before proceeding.

NOTE:  Student ID numbers are no longer social security numbers.  Student ID numbers all start with the number 9.
If you don't know yours, call the Business Office before proceeding.
Using your SSN will cancel or delay your application.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that if my vehicle, name, or address information changes before September 9th (February 1 for mid-year sales) I may return to “thepermitstore.com”, access my account, and update my information, BUT if it changes after September 9th I must contact the UNH Parking Office (862-1010) to provide the updated information, because on-line changes done after 9/9 (2/1) will not reach the parking office.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that at the end of the on-line application, I must correctly enter my Student I.D. number to register to have my permit fee placed on my student billing account, to be billed later along with other enrollment fees.

NEW!  The online parking permit sales process NO LONGER uses pay-online for parking permits (ie, you no longer need pay online with a credit card or e-check).  The new payment method is to simply enter your Student ID to transfer the permit charge to your student account.  This will appear as a line item on your next student bill sent out by the UNH Business Office!

NOTE:  BE SURE TO "CHECK OUT" AT THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR ORDER!
Simply submitting your information will not complete your order, you must check out!

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that I am applying for a “pre-qualified” permit, so it will be checking my ID number against a list of pre-qualified IDs.  If for some reason I am not pre-qualified, my application will get relegated to “administrative review”, which means that my eligibility will be individually examined, and I will shortly receive an e-mail about the decision of the administrative review.

"Permit School"
Application considerations...

I understand that if I get a message about pending approval that I MUST check my e-mail within a few days to see if further action on my part is necessary.   I may be rejected for one of the following reasons:

Note:  Because of the lateness of  the GA enrollment schedule, most online GA parking permit applications end up "pending approval", then are approved "on faith", and then after the purchase, GA eligibility is confirmed with the Grad School, and any ineligible permits are deactivated.

"Permit School"
Application Considerations...

I understand that my application is being submitted to "ThePermitStore.com", a contracted vendor for UNH, located in California, and my permit will be coming from there.  My successful application should result in my permit being delivered to me in about 2 weeks or so, possibly less.  If after my application is submitted I wish to CANCEL my order, I must contact UNH.  If after two weeks I have not received my permit, I must contact UNH.  If I receive my permit, but lose it before the start of the semester, I must contact UNH.  (Number to call: 603-862-1010).

Hint:  If your permit does not show up in 2 weeks call Transportation Services, 862-1010

Hint II:  Your permit will come in an envelope marked with this logo in the return address...do NOT mistake it for "junk" mail!!

UNH Parking Regs...

I agree that in using UNH parking facilities, I am bound by the entire body of the UNH Parking Regulations, and I have been instructed to read these regulations, posted HERE,  to become familiar with campus parking.  I also understand the limits of UNH's liability as it pertains to parking.

Agreement to terms...

Finally, I agree that clicking “Yes” below, I agree to the following proposition, and that clicking “Yes” acts as my signature to this agreement, and an acknowledgement that you understand the terms and conditions of applying for and holding a GA parking permit:

The completion of my application and issuance of my permit indicates that I, the owner, have read, understand, and will abide by all the UNH Parking Regulations, and will be subject to their enforcement.  I will be responsible for any violations thereof committed by me or any person operating the vehicle bearing my permit.”

I agree to these conditions, and ascribe my signature:
