Short Courses for Teachers & Directors

Graduate & Undergraduate Credits for Teachers and Directors of Preschool through High School Ages. In 1993, the UNH Departments of Theatre/Dance and Education began offering short courses in the summer semester. After a brief hiatis, these short courses are back. These courses provide a service to the State Departments of Education and to Teachers and Directors who desire to: fulfill their Continuing Education requirements, fulfill their In-Service requirements, earn graduate credits or undergraduate credits toward a masters degree, or other undergraduate degrees. This program largely services the states of New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Each course is limited to 25 students.
Creative Drama in the Classroom

Teachers will experience different aspects of Creative Drama and examine how to integrate these techniques into what they already are doing in their classrooms. Through investigation of various elements such as feltboard storytelling, theatre games, story drama and puppetry, teachers will create sequential lesson plans which coincide with their current curricula as well as the National Curriculum Standards. The course is appropriate for teachers of grades K-8 who are at any experience level and will be structured to meet the needs of those enrolled. Continuing education and professional development is also available for graduate education credit. 4 cr.

Please note: registration and summer services fees are paid only once per summer. Technology fees are pro-rated based on the number of credits an individual enrolls in over the entire summer session. Refund schedules are established separately for each summer term. Please see the Summer Session Calendar for refund deadlines for each term. If a program is cancelled by UNH, all course charges and fees will be refunded.
AUDIT PRIVILEGES: Granted at the discretion of the instructor on a space available basis, individuals may audit credit courses at the rate of $100 per credit plus the mandatory semester fees and any other required course fees. Registration for audit classes are accepted only AFTER classes begin with signed authorization from the instructor.
