| AUDITION INFO |
| In the fall of 2009, The Department of Theatre and Dance will stage "Curtains," directed by Matt Nesmith, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," directed by David Richman, and "Tintypes," directed by Deb Kinghorn. The major roles for "Curtains" have been cast, but rewarding smaller roles are still open. All roles in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Tintypes" will be cast. Call-backs for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will occur on Saturday, September 5, with the possibility of second callbacks on Sunday, September 6. In most cases, if you have a major role in "Curtains," you will not be eligible for a role in "A Midsummer Night's Dream." If you are in "Curtains," and have an interest in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," please be in touch with David Richman before the audition. It is possible to have smaller roles in both "Curtains" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream." What do you do if you want to audition. Decide which shows you'd like to be considered for. If you want to audition for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" as well as one (or both) of the musicals, you must audition on Thursday night, September 3, between 6:00 and 7:30. If you want to audition for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" only, you must audition on Thursday night, September 3, between 7:40 and 11:00. If you are auditioning for "Dream" and "Curtains"/"Tintypes," you must prepare the following. 1. Two contrasting 16-bar songs (may be Broadway or non-Broadway). 2. A one-minute comic monologue--any style any period. If you don't want to audition for "Curtains" or "Tintypes" and want to be considered for all roles in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," you must prepare the following: 1. A one-minute verse speech from anywhere in Shakespeare. 2. A one-minute comic monologue--any style any period. Tips: Prepare pieces you like, with which you are comfortable, and that show you off. We want you to take your best shot. IT IS A VERY GOOD IDEA TO READ THE PLAY FROM WHICH YOU ARE AUDITIONING, AND TO MAKE STRONG CHOICES. During the first week of classes, a sign-up sheet will appear on the big bulletin board near the Hennessy Theatre. Sign up for a five-minute audition appointment. We also have a basic audition form (see below). Please fill out your answers to these questions and email your answers to dmr@cisunix.unh.edu. Decisions about "Curtains"" will be made very soon after the Thursday audition.
