THE FISHERMAN AND HIS WIFE: This traditional fable tells the story of a simple fisherman and his not so simple wife. Discover what happens when they go from rags to riches in this classic tale. A magic fish with a flair for jazz narrates. With audience participation and colorful costumes, this updated story is sure to be a crowd favorite. Appropriate for younger audiences. Pre-K - Grade 3. Available June 5. Written by Claudia Haas, winner of the 2008 Anna Zornio Playwriting Competition.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM is specifically designed for young audiences. Fairies, maidens, magic and fools abound in this wonderful introduction to the world’s greatest playwright. Book this lively show and discover why Midsummer is still Shakespeare's most popular comedy. Appropriate for school-age audiences. Grades 1 - 6. Available June 18.
Cast
| Ethan Richard Selby, from Peterborough, NH, is a senior at Keene State College. Ethan spent 10 years with Andy's Summer Playhouse. Notable college roles include various roles in the musical Blood Brothers, a chorus member in the Greek tragedy Agamemnon and Barnaby Tucker in The Matchmaker, for which he was nominated for an Irene Ryan Scholarship at American College Theatre Festival. While Studying abroad in England Ethan played the role of Dan in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He is very excited to be involved with Little Red Wagon Theatre and hopes to continue to get paid for doing what he loves most. | ![]() |
| Sean Driscoll, of Keene, NH is a freshman at the University of New Hampshire. Most recently, he performed the role of Renfeild in UNH’s original production "The Boy Who Stood Still". Other memorable roles from his past include Seymour in "Little Shop of Horrors", Cain in "Children of Eden", and Matt in "The Fantasticks". After graduating, he hopes to pursue a career doing something he loves. Sean can't wait to be a part of Little Red Wagon this summer and work with such a great group of people! | ![]() |
| Cat Claus, of Wellesley, MA, is a sophomore musical theatre major at The University of New Hampshire. Some of her favorite roles include Mrs. Meers in “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, Serena Katz in “Fame”, and Pantalone/Columbina in I C No Arlecchino. She hopes to go into the theatre world after college, or maybe she'll just go back to the circus...who knows! | ![]() |
| Allison Lee Relihan , of Wakefield, MA, is a sophomore at Keene State College. Some prominent roles include, Minnie Fay in “The Matchmaker”, Imogen in “Cymbeline”, Emily Webb in “Our Town”, and a tap dancer in “Crazy For You” and “42nd Street.” Her hopes for the future are to be a hard worker, a risk taker and not to be afraid to be true to herself. | ![]() |

Audience
The Little Red Wagon is appropriate for families and children (PK-6th grade). The troupe is available for indoor or outdoor performances at camps, libraries, recreation centers, schools, hospitals, churches, state parks, fairs, festivals, and youth banquets throughout New England.
Dates & Times
June 5 through August 14, 2009. Days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, as available.
Performance Space
- The performance area, indoor or outdoor, should provide a clear, unobstructed space.
- Gazebos are not recommended as a performance space. The actors can set up in front of, or to the side of a gazebo.
- The performance space should be approximately 14’ across x 14’ deep x 8’ tall.
- The performance space should be available one hour prior to the performance time.
- This space should be cleared of all items, furniture, debris before the group arrives.
- Reserve the space for a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes for the UNH troupe (for the set-up, performance, and tear down time).
- Provide 1 standard, 120 volt electrical outlet that is located within 40’ of the performance space for the sound system. This electrical outlet should have no other heavy equipment loads on the same circuit.
- If broadcast announcements are made at your location, please request that these be done prior to the show.
- For indoor shows, make sure all entrances/halls/stairs/performance areas are easy to access for the actors who will be carrying heavy and large stage equipment. If stairs/stairwell access is unavoidable, please call us so we may prepare the troupe.
Remuneration
The Little Red Wagon is funded solely through donations from those who host them. We request a commitment and donation of $400 per show. A $100 security deposit is due within 10 days of a date reservation and the remaining amount is requested within 10 days after the performance. Checks are payable to UNH.
History
The Little Red Wagon is the longest running nonprofit, children’s theatre tour in the U.S. Since 1971, the Wagon has performed throughout New England at more than 70 locations every summer. The Little Red Wagon, a grass-roots model program for the State of New Hampshire, was instrumental to the introduction of Theatre Education into the public school system as a supportive tool for reading and learning.
