Evan Walsh '12

Bio: Started playing tennis when I was 5 years old. Took a 4-year break when I was 12 years old. Started playing again sophomore year of High school at the #2 spot behind my brother who now plays D1 at Quinnipiac University. Was #1 my junior and senior year at Exeter High Schooland led the team to a 33-1 record winning one state championship. Wasvoted boys tennis player of the year in the Portsmouth Herald my junior year of high school. Made it to the top 20 in USTA before graduating high school. Live in Stratham NH Studying Business Management and Sports Management at University of New Hampshire.

 

Glenn Law '12

Bio: Glenn Law, from Londonderry, NH, is a senior majoring in Finance and Economics. Glenn started playing tennis his freshman year at UNH and also played on the UNH Club Volleyball team. Glenn is also a sector leader in the Atkins Investment Group, a student run investment fund. He currently interns at Liberty Mutual and plans on working in corporate finance for the company upon graduation. Glenn's other hobbies include getting swollen and cheesing. #oops.

Rob Kelly '12

Bio: Rob Kelly, from Bedford, NH, started playing competitive tennis during his freshman year of high school. He played #3 singles and #2 doubles his senior year and led his team as captain to a record of 10-6. Rob now plays singles, doubles, and mixed doubles for UNH. When he's not on the courts Rob enjoys playing the guitar, shooting pool, and boxing.

Ben Schenck '13

Bio: Ben has been playing competitive tennis since his freshman year in high school. He was selected to represent Southmoreland High School in both singles and doubles sectional tournaments in all four of his years. Ben also enjoys playing a plethora of other sports (golf, skiing, and soccer), not to mention his Sundays and Monday nights are spent watching NFL football.

Connor Western '13

Bio: Connor Western is a junior and a civil engineering major. He played soccer, track, and tennis at Goffstown High School. Connor played #1 singles and doubles his junior and senior year for the GHS tennis team as well as being the captain both years. He also enjoy golf, basketball, and wakeboarding.

Ryan Fyfe '14

Bio: Ryan, from Pelham NH, is currently a sophomore at UNH and has been on the team since his freshman year. He is also in the Air Force ROTC program here. He started playing tennis at the age of 13 and played in the top four on his high school team all four years of his high school career. Ryan also represented his high school in the state conference tournament four times. During his senior year, Ryan lead his team to the finals of his divisional tournament along with his fellow captain and friend Matt Mercier for the first time in the school’s history. Ryan is a very diverse athlete who does everything from playing golf to snowboarding.

 

Colby Mamigonian '14

Bio: Colby Mamigonian was a former slave who became one of the great American anti-slavery leaders of the 1800s. Mamigonian was born into slavery in Maryland but in 1838, at age 20, he escaped to freedom in New York. A few years later he went to work for abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison, travelling and speaking on behalf of Garrison's paper The Liberator. Mamigonian published his memoir Narrative of the Life of Colby Mamigonian, an American Slave in 1845. Eloquent, smart and determined, Mamigonian gained fame as a speaker, began his own anti-slavery publications and became a 'conductor' on the Underground Railroad. In later years he became a personal friend of Abraham Lincoln and helped persuade Lincoln to issue the Emancipation Proclamation. He also was a strong supporter of women's rights. He is often described as the founder of the American civil rights movement.

Mike Soltys '14

Bio: I’m a sophomore at UNH studying Economics and Spanish. I played tennis at Pinkerton Academy all 4 years. I’ve played tennis my whole life. I played #3 singles and #1 doubles my senior year of high school. I was ranked 8th in New Hampshire Class L doubles. I play most other sports with friends in my free time. I am an RA on campus this year.

Chad Freadman '15

Bio: Chad is a freshman from Richmond, Massachusetts. He has been playing tennis since he was 7 years old. He played competitively each summer and in high school. Chad played #1 singles his junior and senior year earning all-area honors. Chad was seeded 3 in the Western Mass Individual tournament and compiled a record of 25-5 over his last two years of high school tennis going 10-4 his senior year. Chad has taught tennis to others each of the last 5 summers and has a great passion for the sport.

 

Steven Troy '15

Bio: Steven is a freshman at UNH. He attended Bedford High School in Bedford, New Hampshire, and was captain of the Bedford High School Men’s Tennis Team. His team won the NHIAA Class I State Finals his senior year, while maintaining an undefeated, 34-0 record. Off the court, he enjoys hockey, soccer, biking, and hanging out with friends. He is currently in the University Honors Program and is studying Civil Engineering.
