Dr. Harry Richards
Harry Richards is Dean of the Graduate School at the University of New Hampshire. He holds degrees from SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Albany and Florida State University. He worked in the SUNY system, University of Hawaii at Hilo and Florida State prior to joining the Graduate School at the University of New Hampshire in 1979. During his 26 years at UNH, he has served as Assistant Dean, Associate Dean before being appointed Dean in 2004. He has co-directed FIPSE funded efforts to develop and disseminate Academic Programs in College Teaching and was an early advocate for the Preparing Future Faculty program sponsored by AAC&U and CGS. He is currently PI on the CGS and ORI demonstration project on the Responsible Conduct of Research.
Richards has been active on the Executive Committee of the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools for several years. He has chaired both the Master's and doctoral award committees and served as Secretary-Treasurer of NAGS. Richards is currently president of the association.
In addition to his specific interests in enhancing the preparation of the next generation of faculty and the professional development of students, Richards is also interested in public policy and the politics of higher education.
