About SWE

A purple sheet was passed around that explained what SWE is and does. It then
explained all the committees.
Committees
Outreach Committee
o Presenting
a power point presentation to high schools in NH
o Explains
different disciplines in engineering and sciences
o GEMS
Club which works with
o
Tech Camp which will start in the spring as an open house for parents and
students to work on activities
Community Service Committee
o
Various activities throughout the year
o Previous
years we’ve done Relay for Life, Food Drives, Toys for Tots
Professional Series Committee
o Women
in industry are invited to a dinner and presentation of their work life. They
explain their job and what its like to transition to the work force.
Fundraising Committee
o Essential
to earning money for SWE.
o Past
projects have been candy grams, bake sale
o There
is also a project in the works to send out letters to local companies about
making donations
Publicity Committee
o Marketing
for SWE
o Anything
other committee that requires a poster or fliers can ask the fundraising
society to make them
Deans Liaison
o Keep
in contact with Dean Henry and Dean Klewicki
o They
like to know what SWE is up to
o Any
permission that SWE needs from the Deans Office would be the Deans Liaison job
to contact the Dean
Pizza Person
o Technically
not a committee but a very important job regardless
o Responsible
for getting pizza for each meeting
o Details
on who to contact and how will be provided to you
Fun Night with Mentors and
Mentees
·
Ideas were brought up
of what would be a fun activity for new and old SWE members. Ideas were
bowling, a movie, smoothie night, and game night.
·
A date will be
announced in the next week when an activity has been chosen. If anyone else has
any ideas they can email swe.unh@gmail.com with them.
National Conference
·
·
Plane tickets still
need to be reserved and then we have a better idea on the cost
·
There is a career fair
and workshops there that you can attend.
·
There will be more
information provided at the next meeting about it
Resume Workshop
·
It was suggested that
SWE have a resume workshop day
·
There could be a
speaker form Hood House who could give a brief presentation about career and
internships and be able to answer any questions
·
MEETING TIME
·
The meeting time for
this semester will be on at 6:00 on every other Thursday in Kingsbury
·
The room will be
announced before the next meeting
