Leach Field Project

Final Design

Santisuk's previous septic system, which managed gray and black wastewater for the school compound and two dormitories, drained directly into a nearby river, creating stagnant pools and contaminating water used by communities downstream. We installed a leach field sytem to mitigate the environmental impacts and health risks posed by the current infrastructure.

The
former water source was a spring in the hills approximately one mile from Santisuk, piped directly from a surface pool. This unprotected water source was subject to biological contamination which was causing digestive sickness among the Santisuk villagers. We built a spring box to contain contamination at the source, then installed a roughing filter coupled with slow sand filters to clean out organic contaminants and bacteria.
