Student Summit, promoting responsible celebrations

September 19-21, 2003 : University of New Hampshire

About the Summit

In answer to the growing prevalence of student and community disturbances following athletic events and other celebrations at universities and colleges, the University of New Hampshire, following the initiative set by its student leadership, has planned a three-day student conference that examines the growing trend of large-group civil disruptions on the nation's campuses and in their communities.

Working in teams; students, university administrators, faculty, and community members from universities from across the United States will look at these issues and concerns from the student perspective. Subjects include the role of campus climate and culture and the enforcement of campus codes and criminal laws. The goal of the conference is to build a deeper understanding, develop constructive ideas, and identify traditions that promote healthy celebrations.

The University of New Hampshire Student Senate, New Futures, the Department of Student and Academic Services, the Provost's Office, and the President's Office support Student Summit: Promoting Responsible Celebrations.
