Please review the information for each specific award to nominate and recognize a University of New Hampshire staff member for their contributions to the UNH community.
Presidential Award of Excellence
Criteria
A staff member classified as an OS, PAT or EE employee with a minimum of three years of service who has "Demonstrated excellence through outstanding performance in their position and a record of dedication to, and a concern for, the University Community."
Timeframe
Annual award with nominations accepted during February – March each year. The Presidential Awards of Excellence are presented at the annual Staff Recognition program held the 1st Friday of May.

The Kidder Award
Criteria
Through the Kidder Fund Awards, the university honors one staff member, one faculty member, and one student who, through their scholarship, leadership, or outstanding efforts, foster greater understanding of sexual orientation at the University of New Hampshire. The purpose of the Kidder Fund is to sponsor and encourage educational efforts that will enhance understanding of and advancing opportunities for those whose sexual orientation differs for the majority in our culture, to foster AIDS awareness, and to demonstrate the constructive contributions this important segment of our society is making.
Timeframe

The Social Justice Award
Criteria
This award, created by the UNH Diversity Team and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration planning committee, recognizes the work of a student, staff and faculty member who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, courage and role modeling in promoting social justice issues such as diversity, equity and human rights at the university. This is a lifetime achievement award and 2012 will be the 8th year of honoring staff with this award. Previous staff recipients were JerriAnne Boggis, 2010; R. Ellen Semran, 2009; Richard Haynes, 2008; Chanda Corbertt, 2007; Sean McGhee, 2006; Michele Holt-Shannon, 2005; and Larry Brickner-Wood, 2004.
Timeframe
Nominations are solicited annually. The current deadline for 2013 nominations is December21, 2012 via http://nominations.unh.edu. This award will be presented during the Social Justice Awards celebration held on January 31, 2013.

The Women's Commission Stephanie Thomas Staff Award
Criteria
The Staff Award, created in honor of former Registrar Stephanie Thomas, a remarkable advocate for women's rights at UNH, is given to a UNH community member who has displayed a long-standing commitment to women's issues and to the mission of the Women's Commission.
Timeframe
Nominations are solicited annually for staff, faculty and students and presented each spring. The next nomination deadline will be the first week of March 2013.

The UNH Professional Advising Award
Criteria
The UNH Professional Advising Award recognizes a professional advising staff member for excellence across the spectrum of academic advising. Winners are chosen based on their demonstration of genuine concern and respect for students; professional and ethical standards; mastery of advising principles; engagement in activities that enhance and support academic advising at UNH; and overall enthusiasm.
Timeframe
Nominations are solicited annually, typically during the January-March timeframe. For 2013, the nomination deadline will be late February.

The Women's Commission Joyce Gibbs Award
Criteria
The Joyce Gibbs Award was created in 1996 to honor the life and work of Joyce James Gibbs, who served as the senior administrative assistant to the UNH Women's Commission. Each year, the President's Commission on the Status of Women recognizes the accomplishments of a community member who has displayed a long-standing commitment to women's issues and to the mission of the Women's Commission.
Timeframe
Nominations are solicited annually during the late winter (January - March) and presented in April. The 2013 nomination deadline will be in March.

The President's Excellence Through Diversity Award
Criteria
The President's Excellence Through Diversity Award recognizes outstanding leadership in advancing diversity at the University of New Hampshire. The award was presented for the first time in the spring of 2006.
Timeframe
Nominations are solicited annually and presented each spring in May at the UNH Diversity banquet.
