Presidential Award of Excellence
Purpose
To present an annual award to Professional, Administrative & Technical (PAT), Operating Staff (OS), and Extension Educator (EE) staff members in recognition of outstanding performance and distinguished service to the University of New Hampshire.
Eligibility
Nominees for the annual Presidential Award of Excellence must meet two requirements.
- They must be employed at the University of New Hampshire in a position classified as PAT, OS or EE.
- They must have completed at least three years of service at the University of New Hampshire in a PAT, OS or EE position by May 1st of the award year.
Procedure
Members of the University community, including Principal Administrators, Faculty, Staff and students may nominate qualified PAT, OS or EE staff members by completing the Presidential Award of Excellence nomination application online or by requesting a paper application from the Office of Human Resources at (603) 862-0501and forwarding it to the Presidential Award of Excellence Peer Review Committee, c/o Human Resources, 18 Garrison Avenue, by the posted deadline.
*(Staff members who serve on the Presidential Award of Excellence Peer Review Committee are not eligible for the award during the year in which they serve on the committee.)
Selection
Nominations must be submitted by the posted deadline to be considered for the award. The Committee will select two PAT, two OS and one EE staff member whose performance is judged to be exceptional. The criteria for selection are as follows:
- Demonstrated excellence through outstanding performance in their position and a record of dedication to, and a concern for, the University Community.
Presentation
Presentation of a plaque and a $1,000 monetary award will be made to each of the 5 recipients by the University of New Hampshire’s President during the annual Staff Recognition Program. Each year the Presidential Award of Excellence winners also have their names added to the master plaque that is displayed in the 1st floor of Thompson Hall.
The annual Staff Recognition Program is held in the Memorial Union Building’s Granite State Room traditionally on the 1st Friday of each May. For 2013, due to scheduling conflicts, the program will be held on Wednesday, May 1st.
This program is open to the entire UNH community and everyone is invited to attend and join us in recognizing and celebrating our outstanding staff!
