As stated on the "course objectives" under Internet Course, you will not only learn several Internet tools to access the Web-site information, but also to incorporate these resources to your daily teaching and learning situations. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind that the lesson plans with Web-site activities you design for this course should have some focus on the application of Internet which allows learners to achieve different aspects of foreign language learning using "National Standards" as guidelines for your project. You will need to get yourself familiar with the "Standards for Foreign Language Learning" and some theoretical framework and methodologies of foreign language teaching.
It is also important to understand how the Internet can support and be integrated into foreign language teaching and learning. Selected reading materials for this course will help you gain some knowledge of using Internet to create Web-materials, activities for your teaching. I'll create a "Class Listserv" after receiving the Data Information from you. Basically, you'll join the "Class Listserv" for discussions about Internet tools, Web links and activities among you, your peers and instructor during the course. It is highly recommended that you spend at least 40 minutes surfing the Internet and find some interesting sites for your lessons. You may want to use "bookmarks" to save sites for the future use. You will read 5-6 articles, use 2-3 search engines, visit 2-3 people's homepages, use a couple of Internet tools, and create 6-7 Web-based lessions. After each activity, you need to provide me with your feedback or/and comments concerning the use of tools, information found in the articles, homepages or the process of writing Web-based activities, etc. Click her for the instructions.
