Hora de Café: Join us on the 3rd floor of Murkland Hall every Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. Habla en español y toma unos refrescos.

Welcome to the Spanish  and Portuguese Program. The Spanish major is designed to help students develop proficiency in the Spanish language and an appreciation of the cultural and literary achievements of Hispanic societies around the globe. This dual emphasis on communication and understanding prepares students to live in a world community where Spanish is becoming increasingly important for both personal and professional reasons.

Study abroad, internships, and double or dual majors are excellent ways to enhance the value of the course work done by majors and minors. Majors are required to spend at least one semester abroad at our Granada program or another authorized program in Spain or Latin America.

Students may also graduate with honors in the major providing they complete the necessary classes and a senior thesis in Spanish.
