Spring 2006 Perspectives

Sociological Perspectives online journal logo

Spring 2006

Welcome to the 11th edition of Perspectives, the online journal for the department of Sociology at The University of New Hampshire. Students have worked hard throughout their academic career and we are proud to showcase some of the outstanding work they have done. We would like to thank the students that took the initiative to share their work with their peers and the larger community.

Sociology is not only the study of how society functions, but it also encompasses all dimensions of social interaction. In this edition we will feature a sampling of the many disciplines within the sphere of sociology including: theory, gender, criminal deviance, education and other topics relevant to the field.

We hope that this edition will give you insight into the many interests of the undergraduate sociology community. The opinions expressed in the following submissions do not necessarily reflect those of the University or the editors of Perspectives. We would like thank Professor Sharyn Potter for all her guidance and encouragement in helping us to publish this edition.

In closing, we would also like to thank Linda Blum, Jean Elson, Priscilla Reinertsen and Ted Kirkpatrick for their outstanding support. We hope that you enjoy this year’s publication and appreciate the effort put forth by the undergraduate students.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Milliken Blaine Butler Nicole Cloutier
