Join Us For A Premiere of the Film: Killing Us Softly 4: Advertising’s Image of Women.

Jean Kilbourne updates her series of lectures to take a fresh look at how advertising constructs distorted and destructive ideals of femininity. The film shows a range of print and television advertisements that show a stunning pattern of damaging gender  stereotypes -- images and messages that too often reinforce unrealistic, and unhealthy, perceptions of beauty, perfection, and sexuality. The film challenges viewers to take advertising seriously, and to think critically about popular culture and its relationship to sexism, eating disorders, and gender violence.

Showing Saturday Nov. 6th in Horton Basement, Room 4 at 11:00 AM

**FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC***

Presented by: The New England Sociological Association, UNH Dept. Of Sociology & The Media Education Foundation
