Going on Vacation? Use the UNH E-mail Auto-Reply System

by Cathy Annese

Note: This article applies to CIS Unix E-mail only. Exchange clients should use the Out of Office Assistant feature.

If you are going on vacation this summer, there is a great mechanism in place to make folks aware that you are out of the office. You can use the UNH E-mail Auto-Reply System (also known as the vacation program), and thus, people will not be left hanging, waiting for an e-mail response.

Setting up an auto-reply is easy. Simply visit https://webmail.unh.edu/cisunix/vacation.html and fill out the ‘Start Auto-Reply’ form, supplying the necessary credentials. This will inform folks that you are out of the office, and if they continue to send you e-mail, will receive this auto message once a week. This response can also be customized to include a summer contact number, alternate e-mail address, or another person to contact in your absence.

Set up the Auto-Reply just before you leave for vacation, and when you return, simply return to this webpage and fill out the ‘Stop Auto-Reply’ form to shut it off. If you have any questions on this procedure or need assistance setting up this feature, contact the Help Desk at 862-4242.
