Outlook 2007: Managing E-mail Notifications

blakcboardWhile Outlook 2007 E-mail notifications are a great way to alert you to new messages, they can also be distracting. Turning them on or off is a snap.


  1. With Outlook 2007 open, go to Tools > Options.
  2. In the Preferences tab, go to the E-mail section, and choose E-mail Options.
  3. Select Advanced E-mail Options
  4. In the When New Items Arrive in My Inbox section, select the Advanced E-mail option.
  5. Select or deselect each notification you want or do not want to receive.

While you’re at it, you can also adjust both the duration and transparency of these notifications by choosing the Desktop Alert Settings in this same area, and then choosing your preferences accordingly with the slide rule settings.
