SIGNAL's
Mission Statement: Our vision is to light the
road to success for our business students through connecting them with
real world business leaders and developing their growth, networking and
leadership skills in order to create a more attainable future.
SIGNAL Officers, 2009
"Where
the business leaders of tomorrow meet the business leaders of
today."
SIGNAL was formed in the Fall of 2003 by a group of
ambitious students. It's members varied in age, but had a common goal;
to improve their personal growth, networking and leadership skills in
both life and in the business world. Having sufficient networking and
leadership skills will enable its members to successfully bridge the
gap between education and the business community.
SIGNAL is a student organization that primiarly
focuses both personal and organizational growth, networking and
leadership. Through listening and talking to UNH, WSBE Alumni SIGNAL
members will learn about the personal growth and evolution of
organizational leaders. We are interested in their specific career
paths, life stories, and the skills and techiques they acquired along
the way, therefore we can learn from their experiences.
SIGNAL members are constantly working on their
leadership and networking skills, in and outside of class. SIGNAL
promotes extroverted members and seeks members who wish to become more
friendly, out-going, and happy people, who desire success in the
business community. The members of SIGNAL wish to actively build
relationships with regional businesses and with other business schools,
in order to promote the image of UNH, WSBE and SIGNAL in the
surrounding area.
SIGNAL recognizes the importance of a strong
personal network. Many people learn through other peoples actions,
events and stories. Building a strong personal network will not only
help us as individuals to find jobs as well as devolop our careers, but
it will also aid future WSBE and SIGNAL alumni obtain a secure job.
SIGNAL also actively encourages its members to find positions of
leadership and authority within campus organizations. These leadership
positions may be in various forms; honor societies, sports teams, Greek
Organizations, or any other extra-curricular organization.
We envision SIGNAL as a gateway to the "real-world."
SIGNAL's creed is based upon both personal and organizational growth,
networking and leadership, therefore we promote those characteristics
at every moment everyday. Many students today have a difficult time
successfully making the transition between work and school. SIGNAL will
help aid its members in this transition.
SIGNAL was also formed because WSBE was lacking an
extra-curricular club that focused on the most important aspect of
being a manager - essentially stuff that focuses on leading a group of
people.
