| Sexual Harassment And Rape Prevention Program | |||||
OutreachSHARPP has a number of different educational and interactive outreach programs that address a variety of tpoics. All programs are designed and delivered by a group of trained Peer Educators who can present to any combination of classes and residence halls, small and large audiences, mixed or single gender audiences. Outreach efforts are a form of prevention through education. Especially as college is a time when individuals often explore their boundaries around sex, sexuality, dating, alcohol and drugs, it is important that everyone has had the opportunity to reflect upon these themes. It is possible for one person to unintentionally hurt someone else by not understanding the complex issues surrounding sexual and domestic violence. When individuals have engaged in conversations to better undersatnd the meaning of consent, healthy relationships, bystander responsibility, and more, they are equipped with the knowledge to make the best decisions for themselves and those around them. Ultimatley, the goal of the outreach component of SHARPP is to affect cultural change by providing a forum for individuals to explore and challenge ways in which society constructs power, gender, and sexual expression. Please note that all programs must be requested two weeks prior to the intended program date. Please speak to the Peer Education Coordinator at SHARPP at 862-3494 in order to schedule a program for you class, hall, team, Greek House, student group or any organization. You will find lists and descriptions of SHARPP Outreach Programs at the links from the menu items headings. In order to facilitate ease of use of SHARPP programs, you will note that the menu options are divided into classes, residence halls, special programs and videos. This is only a guide, based on experience, as to which programs are most appropriate for certain audiences. However, please be aware that SHARPP is willing to facilitate the program of your choice in the setting you desire, so you are not limited to choosing programs under a certain heading. Also, SHARPP is very flexible in working with you if you have a specific program that you would like to see presented.
