Getting Help

If you or someone you care about has experienced a traumatic event, you may be feeling overwhelmed and confused about what to do and where to go for help. The Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program (SHARPP) provides services so you do not have to make difficult decisions alone. Our direct service is for female, male, or transgender survivors who have experienced sexual violence, relationship abuse, sexual harassment, or stalking. In addition, we offer assistance to survivors loved ones and friends who are impacted by these issues. SHARPP's services are free and confidential and available to all members of the UNH community—students, staff, and faculty.

The most important of SHARPP's many services is support; our trained advocates are available to help 24 hours a day. Your advocate will work, one-on-one with you, to provide you with practical information and assistance you embark on your journey of healing. SHARPP recognizes that people who come to the agency have different experiences with sexual assault and relationship abuse and our advocacy program is designed to work with the individual and their unique needs dependant upon the situation. People of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ages; ethnic, economic, racial, and religious backgrounds; nationalities, and mental and physical abilities are welcome at SHARPP. Our staff and volunteers reflect UNH's diverse community and will connect you with a variety of on or off-campus groups for additional sources of support.

SHARPP is here to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please call our crisis line at (603) 862-7233 (SAFE) or visit us in Verrette House at 6 Garrison Avenue, located directly across from Stoke Hall. Our office is open from 8:00am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday, no appointment necessary. Advocates will also meet survivors at the hospital, police department, court, or in a Residence Hall Director's office.
