Volunteer!
Without volunteers, SCOPE would not be able to put on shows! Volunteering for SCOPE is an awesome experience, whether you’re just looking for something to do, looking to gain insight into the music industry, or looking to be part of something that caters to 2300 to 5500 students.
Volunteer duties vary. Morning tasks include loading in lights/stage/sound equipment into the venue. Volunteers help the production team and take part in the setup of the stage, as well as help the hospitality team to set up the artist dressing rooms. Other tasks include setting up chairs (if the show is a seated show), security barricade & bike rack, and other various other tasks.
Getting closer to the show, volunteers help SCOPE executive members make sure the venue is ready to rock and roll! Security volunteers rotate to different posts throughout the night, playing a vital role in securing the facility. Barricade security volunteers work in conjunction with SCOPE executive members to maintain the barricade, and make sure that patrons are acting in an appropriate concert manner to ensure the safety of all in attendance.
When the doors open, another important volunteer task takes place at the doors. Volunteers help with pat-downs and ticket taking, another important task vital to the existence of SCOPE!
Once again, volunteers are a vital part of SCOPE. Volunteers are compensated with a show shirt as a tangible thank you. Again, you are rewarded with an intrinsic feeling of awesomeness when you're looking out at a crowd of 2500 or 5500 people and saying to yourself "I help put this show on." Volunteering is one of the best ways to get an idea about what SCOPE is all about, and a great way to get your foot in the door if you're considering joining SCOPE. If you have any questions about volunteering or joining SCOPE, Facebook us, or email us at scope@unh.edu.
