Want to make a difference?

What a great way to get started!  Roll up your sleeves and get involved with those around you , gain

practical real world experience and get credit for it too!  Meaningful, important, fun and casual . . .These are all words to describe the great experience of taking this class and living together.

Located in Hubbard Hall and open to Honors students only, this coed community of about 20 students will live together and participate in a 4 credit seminar style inquiry course.  The course content will explore how we as individuals are shaped by the communities we are part of, and how we in turn impact communities. This class has a service learning component that will give students a laboratory to explore the concepts discussed in the class.

This course is being taught by Vicki Banyard from the psychology department at UNH.  Vicki is the recipient of one of the 2005 teaching excellence awards given to UNH faculty that are known for their outstanding teaching in the eyes of students. Vicki lives in Durham with her family, she looks forward to spending informal time with the students participating in this unique community in Hubbard Hall.

We know that this group of first year students will have a great start to their UNH experience as a result of living together, and taking this class as a community.  If you are interested in joining this community, check off this option on your housing application.

"I liked how this community did not just encourage me to get involved, but pushed me right into it from the start."
