Do you like drawing, pottery, painting, sculpting, photography, and/or jewelry making? Were you called "artsy" in high school? You can finally be surrounded by individuals like you.

Students will interact with faculty members, have space to work on projects, and people to bounce ideas off of. Even if you just like art for fun, take a closer look!

The summer before my freshman year at UNH was exciting and daunting all at once; I was exciting about starting a new chapter in my life, and apprehensive about leaving behind the life I knew at home. While filling out my Housing paperwork, I wanted to be placed in a dorm with people who would be studying in the same field as me. Little did I know that I would be placed in a community quite different than the one I preferred! An envelope came in the mail containing my new campus address. At first I was disappointed to see that I did not get into the dorm I requested, but move-in day came and I found myself right in the middle of the most exciting time of my life.

Marston struck me as a very close community, with a lifestyle similar to that of a summer camp. The building was out in the middle of nowhere and looked like an overgrown cabin surrounding a common area. The diversity of residents within Marston worried me at first, but I soon discovered that living here would never be boring. The friends I would make in the weeks to follow quickly became my second family. We were inseparable and fueled each others passions of music, literature, philosophy and the like. I fed off of the energy produced by conversations with everyone in the community, and I realized that there was no other place on campus I would rather be.

Picture of StudentHi, I’m Mike Lalumiere. I’m a freshman here at UNH majoring in business administration. When I first moved into Woodruff I didn’t think I would enjoy it. In an attempt to avoid living in one of the towers, I applied for as many themed dorms as I could. The visual arts dorm was 3rd on my list. Before I really got to know the people living there, I didn’t think I would like it. When I realized what a pleasant, friendly community the mini-dorms are I was much happier. I would definitely recommend this dorm for anyone who likes things to be a little bit more on the relaxed side. I made a lot of good friends here, and know alSmost everyone in the dorm by name.

One of my favorite parts of living in this community is that there is always someone around to do something with. I’ve participated in one activity or other with pretty much everyone living here. There’s always a movie or video game session going on somewhere, and there is always someone willing to play some poker or ping-pong. One of my favorite activities is participating the big discussion/debates that pop up every once in a while. I’ve heard people clashing opinions on a wide range of subjects. From fun discussions about computers or sports, to more serious ethical or political issues, to heated debates on current issues, to farfetched things like the mating habits of ‘Aliens’. I really enjoy that the people here will just hang out and talk to each other instead of just staring at the TV. I spend a great deal of my time in the lounge talking to everyone that comes along.
So far, my entire experience living in Woodruff has been positive. I plan on continuing to live her for as long as I can.
