Sackett is the Science & Engineering themed dorm.

People who decide to live here are interested in subjects like computer science, biology, physics, mathematics, and engineering, but you don't need to be a science major to enjoy living here! Really, Sackett House is all about the community.

I came to UNH not knowing anyone at all. I am 23, an army veteran, and from Tennessee and proud of it. I didn’t expect that I would make a lot of friends here. I’m already older than most of the seniors here, I’m from the south, and have spent over a year in Iraq. How was I supposed to relate to anyone? At first I wasn’t even certain whether or not I would live on campus. I came to the conclusion though that if I didn’t I would never meet anyone. I decided to major in Environmental Engineering which led me to Sackett House. I figured that since I had been out of school for so long, and since my math was a bit rusty, it would help if I was in a dorm that had people in the same classes as me. I also had no interest at all in living in the massive freshman dorms and the idea of a small dorm with only 50 people appealed to me greatly. When I got to the dorm, I was still a bit resistant to talking to people. After a few days I started to socialize a bit more and found that the people in Sackett are pretty enjoyable to hang out with. As expected there were people in roughly the same field as me, but there were just as many people in entirely different majors who bring a refreshing change to the dorm. It would be kind of boring if everyone in here was a science and math major. We have psychology, music Ed, biochem, and pre-vet majors as well to add to the mix. The lounge in Sackett has become my favorite place to be, most everyone in here will take a breather from studying with a relaxing sit in the lounge where the Mario 3 play never stops. The weekends in Sackett are always enjoyable, there is always a few cool people around to kick back with and watch a movie or play a little X-Box. After living here for a little over a semester I can safely say I wouldn’t want to live in any other dorm.
