Richardson
House
Richardson House . . .
Where everyone knows your name.
Richardson House is
a community of all first year students. It’s a great place
to start off your college career! Richardson is a small hall of
43 students making it is easy to get to know people and be included
right off the bat. All but 5 of the spaces are single rooms. Many
students will have the opportunity to make the transition to college
without the added pressure of getting along with a roommate. There
are two big lounges in Richardson where students convene by socializing
and studying together.
Everyone is in the same boat in Richardson,
going through similar transitions, asking similar questions.
The RA and Hall Director are there to help!!! Living here
offers students the comforts of a smaller intimate community
of only first year students transitioning to UNH together.
The programs and activities planned in Richardson will be
designed to meet the needs of first year students. If you
want to live in a place where every knows you, yet you still
have the privacy of your own single room, Richardson is a
great option for you.

"When
I first found out that I would be living in a single in the mini
dorms,
I was a bit nervous. As an incoming freshman I was already worried
that it would be difficult to make friends. I felt that
a roommate would be an automatic friend, someone with whom I could
watch football, go hunting, or read Cosmo whilst painting each other’s
nails and gossiping about Britney and K. Fed. Without a roommate
I feared I would be a social outcast. However, as to be expected,
my fears were ungrounded. Richardson provide an instant community
and within a few days you know everyone in your dorm by name. Making
friends is easier than a win for the Harlem Globetrotters and you
soon come to realize that living in a single has several perks.
In my case, single-living fits very nicely into my lifestyle. For
instance, I haven’t seen my floor in months. Life is good.
Also, there is no risk of having to live with a smelly kid."

"What
I’ve thought of living in a single in Richardson is that it’s
a great environment. It’s a nice quiet area as opposed to
the freshman dorms. I also enjoy having a single. I’ve always
had my own room at home, and it would have been a large step to
take to have another person there. I’m at more comfortable
here knowing that anytime I can go and relax alone, and never have
to worry about another person around."

“Living
in such a small dorm, I have had the opportunity to get to know
each of my dorm-mates, while in the larger dorms I wouldn't even
have known most of their names. It's also nice to be able to leave
your stuff in the bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room, and know it
won't be messed with!”
