degree: B.S. Mathematics: Secondary Education from the University of New Hampshire
Graduate degree: M Ed. Counseling (in progress) from the University of New Hampshire
Any Advise for Incoming 1st Year Students?
Get excited and get involved (now)! There is something for everyone at UNH - go ahead and find your “something.” College can certainly be intimidating, so don’t be afraid to ask for help - get to know your RA and your Hall Director! We are here to help you be successful at UNH. When you are spending time in your residence hall, keep your door open, get to know your neighbors and the other folks on your floor. Keep an open mind to new opportunities and experiences. UNH is a great place to learn, explore, and grow. Take advantage of everything that UNH has to offer - it is yours for the taking! Finally, step outside your comfort zone. The University is a great place to challenge yourself and allow others to challenge you as well. Take the time to look critically at what your beliefs and values are, and listen to other points of view. Be open to change your mind.

Why did you become a Hall Director?
I love working with college students. It is such a unique time for students, as they are often away from home for the first time and faced with challenges and opportunities that exist only in a college or university setting. There is diversity everywhere you look and always a chance to make an impact on someone’s life. I am looking forward to getting to know students on an individual level and create a space in which they can explore, make mistakes safely, learn, and grow.

Why did you choose UNH? What attracted you to the area or the school?
The people at UNH are fantabulous! It has been a great experience working with the folks in the Housing Department, and I am jazzed to now be a part of the Residential Life staff.
Wait, did I also mention that the ocean AND the mountains are right at our fingertips?! Well, it’s true. The Seacoast is a beautiful area and has lots to offer. From hiking and camping to skiing and snowboarding to hitting the beaches and getting some sun - we’ve got it all in the Seacoast. I’m always finding new places to explore and fresh opportunities to try something fun.

Any previous experiences, hobbies, etc, that you would want 1st Year Students to know about you?
Heck yes! I’ve been at UNH for a few years, so I know the campus pretty well. I was also an undergraduate student here and am working on my master’s degree (Yeehaw class of 2010!).
I was born in Melrose, Massachusetts; went to elementary school in Winchester, MA; middle school in Library, PA (yup, Library); high school in Chelmsford, MA. I love Cape Cod, but have never been to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard. I’ve been to Washington and California and am thinking that I’d like to live out there some day.
I am big on family and am close with mom, dad, the siblings (I’ve got 2), grandma, and I’m pretty tight with some aunts and uncles as well. Exercise is must do for me and I’ve just discovered the exciting world of cycling. Among my favorite activities are…running, weight lifting, soccer, reading, music, adventures, fruit (okay, well food in general), going to class (no joke - I really do like it), getting to know new people, and traveling (most recent venture was to Italy…wow, that’s one place I would love to re-visit). I’m usually a morning person and love a good cup of coffee first thing. I’ll try almost anything once…almost anything.
I am always up for some good conversation…anything else you want to know, just ask! J

Thoughts you might be having coming into your own "1st year" at UNH?
Well, technically, this is my 8th year at UNH. I did my undergraduate work here and have been working with the Housing Department since 2002. The past three years I’ve been working at the undergraduate apartments on campus. Last year I decided to return to school and pursue a graduate degree in Counseling…which I’m still working on. I love UNH (I haven’t left yet!). Oddly enough, it was not my first choice for college - I thought that it would be too close to home (good ol’ Chelmsford, MA). But after my first visit, I fell in love with the campus. As the saying goes, the rest is history. I’m super excited about coming into my own first year as a Hall Director and am thrilled for the school year! It will be full of new experiences, challenges, and (of course) fun!
