Advice for incoming first year students?
I would have to say, enjoy it! Your first year moves so fast that one day you’re enjoying it the next day you’re ready to graduate. You will make mistakes and that’s ok, everyone does, just learn from them. Make friends, college is too long to do it by yourself, you will never meet a group of such different people than you will when you’re in school. Study, but don’t forget that this will probably be the best time of your life so live it up (legally of course).

Why did you choose to become a Hall Director?
My undergrad was in education and I enjoyed working with students. I think you have a wonderful opportunity to work with the youth and help develop them, and steer them in the right direction. I really felt that my calling was to help other students realize all the potential they had inside themselves. While I was an undergrad I was also a Resident Assistant. I enjoyed it and before I graduated I came to understand the meaning behind being a RA. When I got to grad school at New Mexico State University I decided that I wanted to get back into working with housing soon after I was offered a Grad Assistant job. I was then offered a hall director job as a temporary position, and found it be very fulfilling. The rest is history.

Why
did you choose UNH? What attracted you to the area or
to the school?
On thing that really brought me to UNH was the people. I never felt so warm and comfortable when doing a job interview. It is also kind of close to my home in Ohio (ok, so 10 hours isn’t really close but closer than what it is now) I wanted a change of scenery as well. My wife and I had been in the southwest for 3 plus years and were really looking to see another part of the United States. What better way to see the northeast than to join the UNH team!

Any previous experiences, hobbies,
etc. that you would want Students to know about you?
My first year was great! I would have to say, join as much as you can (within your own comfort limit). College offers so many chances to meet people, do things you wouldn’t think you would do, and get involved in activities or programs that are bigger than just you.

Thoughts you might be having coming into your own "1st" year at UNH?
I am excited. I can’t wait to get down working and meeting some many nice and sincere people. My wife and I are excited and ready to start a new chapter of our life with UNH as a part of it.
