Aaron Koepke,
Serc A Hall Director

Undergraduate degree: Communication/University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point

Graduate degree: Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education/Ball State University

Why did you become a hall director?:

During my senior year in college, I was encouraged to explore different ways I could use my interpersonal communication degree. I had always been an involved student and had been active in many different organizations. Many of my advisors and mentors encouraged me to consider a career in student affairs, and I made the decision to start a career in the field. Now that I have completed my Master's degree, I am positive I made the right decision. I really enjoy working with students and being a part of a university. I had wonderful experiences with student affairs professionals as an undergraduate student and want to give the students I work with the same experience I had!

Why did you choose UNH? What attracted you to the area or to the school?:

UNH was a great fit for me for a number of reasons. I enjoy the east coast and had spent time here after college and wanted to move back to the area. Everyone that I met during the interview process , from students to Residential Life staff members, was terrific and very welcoming. Also, I think that UNH is a great blend of a good-sized school with a small school feel.

Any previous experiences, hobbies, etc. that you would want Students to know about you?:

I have a lot of different interests and try to stay as active as I can. I enjoy reading, traveling, downhill skiing, spending time with family and friends, and playing the card game cribbage. I'm a big fan of the History Channel and the show American Chopper on the Discovery Channel. When I am at home in Wisconsin, I love to take our black labrador, Ashley, hunting and swimming.

Any advice for Incoming first year students?:

My biggest piece of advice for freshmen is get involved early in your college career. It is important to always remember that you are in college to get an education, but being involved outside the classroom can teach you a great deal about yourself. You can learn a lot by taking advantage of all that UNH has to offer. Be adventurous and try things that challenge you.
