ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT

Mills Hall is one of the most academically-focused buildings on campus. With mostly upperclassmen and four study lounges per floor, you can find lots of students studying individually and in groups on any given night - even weekends!!

Here just a few examples of initiatives and amenities that exist in Mills to enhance the Academic Engagement of our community:

  • STUDY BUCKS. The Study Bucks Program is popular in almost every residence hall on campus, but Millsians seem to take it to another level of seriousness! Anytime a staff member (RA or RHD) sees a student studying, that student gets a "Study Buck." At the end of each semester, students are invited to a Study Bucks Raffle, where they can put their bucks into a raffle to win great prizes like gift certificates to local shops and restaurants, toys, UNH apparel, and more! This is a great way for the Mills Staff to reward academic behaviors in our hall!

  • MILLS STUDY LOUNGES. We have tons of study space in Mills.  We have a whopping 18 lounges!  While three of the lounges have game equipment in them, most are quiet and perfect for studying.  All lounges have a table or multiple tables and plenty of seating.  These lounges are great for group work or some quiet space to get that reading done.  With so many study lounges throughout the hall, it is usually easy to find an empty one to get work done.

  • MILLS ACADEMIC SUPER STARS.  Mills residents who received honors, high honors, or highest honors for first semester had a star and a congratulatory note taped to their door.  Mills Hall is proud of our “academic super stars”, and it was great to see SO MANY stars throughout the hall.  Great job!

  • MILLS CONFERENCE ROOM. Mills Hall is the only residence hall on campus lucky enough to have a professional conference/seminar room. This room is designed for groups who need a quiet place with no distractions to be able to work on group projects together or to conduct a group study session. With felt bulletin boards connected to a giant white board and lots of seating and table space, students can spread their work out and brainstorm to their hearts' desire! The Conference Room can be reserved through the Mills RHD.
